Surgical proficiency

Otology – main area of subspecialization, over 10 years of experience, over 3000 independent operations. Myringoplasty, tympanoplasty, ossiculoplasty, stapes surgery, open and closed mastoidectomy, cochlear implantation, facial nerve decompression, facial nerve grafting, removal of tympanomastoid (type A and B) paragangliomas (I was first who started to remove paragangliomas in Estonia).

Skull base surgery – subtotal petrosectomy, subtotal petrosectomy and cochlear implantation, lateral temporal bone resection, transemporal approaches: translabyrinthine approach for vestibular schwannoma, transottic approach for petrous bone cholesteatoma, infratemporal fossa approach type A for tympanojugular paraganglioma, transcochlear approach. I was first who performed all aforementioned surgical procedures in Estonia.

Rhinology – endoscopic sinus surgery, septoplasty, turbinate surgery, correction of choanal atresia, endoscopic JNA excision, endoscopic transnasal pituitary surgery (together with neurosurgeon), Draf I-III procedures, Caldwell-Luc operation, external frontotomy.

Facial plastic surgery – open and closed rhinoplasty (over 10 years of experience), otoplasty, nose reconstruction, earlobe reconstruction, blepharoplasty. I was first who performed microtia repair using autologous rib cartilages in Estonia. Either standard cases and cases with low hairline.

Other surgeries – all basic ENT operations, including adenoidectomies, tonsillectomies, UPPP, skin tumors, tracheostomy, congenital neck cysts, neck incisions and drainage of abscesses etc.
